Berkshire Thrift is a local community thrift store that functions like a not-for-profit to help those in need in our community and beyond.
The store is the passionate start up of Tegan Joy Cook. It started as a garage sale, with the intent of saving things from the landfill and putting them to use, or getting them to those in need. Her passion for recycling, up-cycling and saving what some see as junk, is something she has been doing her whole life, from child hood, building forts, to her concrete art where she incorporates some of this "junk" into her designs, to make them new beautiful pieces of functional art.
Berkshire Thrift takes in ALL types of items, from household items and furniture, to building materials and commercial items. Whether we sell them in our store, donate to them to other non profits or get them to people in our community that are in need, our goal is to reduce waste and help others. We are working with other organizations, like
Community Restart, to provide items of need as well as to employee community members when we can.
The items that we don't/can't sell, or our partners cannot use, we list on Craigslist and generosity groups for free so that they get a second chance for use in the world. We appreciate all your support through donations and helping us spread the word of our mission!
